In the Footsteps of the Snow Leopard
In the Footsteps of the Snow Leopard – An Evening with Tim Easton
In 2019 Tim Easton undertook a 23 day Lower Dolpo trek…following in Matthiessen’s footprints. The result of this trek was a book, “In the Footsteps of the Snow Leopard”.
In 2025, Tim returned to Upper Dolpo where temperatures are low and the high passes reach over 5,000 meters above the oceans. Tim is currently writing “In the Footsteps of the Snow Leopard, part II“, with publication due later this year.
Tim’s book was inspired by a work written and published by Peter Matthiessen in 1978, “The Snow Leopard” which remains a best seller to this day. This book searches for meaning and understanding within Buddhism. Buddhist Meditation has been the key ingredient in keeping Tim’s dream alive, he is a regular attendee at the Heart Insight Brisbane Meditation Group, and the Langri Tangpa Buddhist Centre.
The evening will begin with a nourishing meal created by James Baird, leading to a slideshow accompanied by the sound of crystal and brass singing bowls played live by Kai Pottage to
complement Tim’s journey. This will be followed by a Q&A with Tim and a sharing of his insights.
Dinner and Conversation with… is exactly that – a simple but tasty meal cooked by James Baird from our event gatherings, followed by an adventure into an aspect of life with with guests from our community for the evening.
Dinner & Conversation is a fundraising event to support the work of Mens Wellbeing.
The event is open to both men and women 18 and over.
Please arrive soon after 5:30PM so we can start dinner promptly at 6PM!
Tim Easton
Tim was born in south-east Queensland to English migrants. Encouraged greatly by his parents to venture into wild places, Tim has kept their wishes alive. He has been fortunate to travel to many wild places in Australia and also to England, Europe, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, China, Zimbabwe, United States, Canada and Nepal.
In 1974 Tim witnessed his sister- Heather Jan Easton – fall to her death from ‘Lost World’ in Lamington National Park. This experience of loss has kept Tim on the path of spirituality. Tim’s mother on the day of this family tragedy, told him to never ‘hate the mountains’ – to this day Tim has lived by those tender words.
Tim has been an active member of Men’s Wellbeing since 1999. The Mens Wellbeing property known as The Rock was his favourite and most passionate project, he poured his heart and soul into that property for at least 15 years.

Kai Pottage
Kai is a self-taught sound practitioner who runs his own sound healing and guided meditation workshops. Tim experienced one of Kai’s sessions and thoroughly enjoyed it, and has asked Kai to join tonight to bring the slideshow to life.
